The discussion of complex increases in complexity….

Back in October, I wrote Is Your Software Complex.  This has prompted a number of discussions in multiple venues, so it seems a good idea to look at the term “Complex” in a bit more detail.

Like many words, it has a number of distinct meanings, and when one is not clear which meaning is intended, then confusion (and related problems) is sure to occur.

Roger Sessions has been writing about one meaning of complexity for about a decade. His book Simple Architectures for Complex Enterprises created an entire field of study. Overly simplifying [and with apologies to Roger], complexity in this context is a mathematical model based on the number of nodes and interconnects between the nodes.

Dave Snowden formulated the Cynefin Framework nearly 20 years ago which categorizes systems into one of four categories: Simple, Complicated, Complex and Chaotic. Once again oversimplifying, Complex is characterized by “The complex domain represents the “unknown unknowns”. Cause and effect can only be deduced in retrospect. There are no right answers“.

Clearly, these are really different topics that simply happen to share an English word. At the same time there are interesting relationships.  Calculating the Complexity [Sessions] of a Complex [Snowden] system is unlikely to be possible, simply because of the unknowns.  Complicated or Simple [Snowden] systems are well defined, but there is not necessarily a correspondence to the resultant Complexity [Sessions].  So one can have a Complicated [Snowden] System with moderate to low complexity [Sessions], and have a Simple [Snowden] System with very high complexity [Sessions].

One approach to dealing with this is to use Cynfin/Snowden when talking about “problems” (something to be addressed) and Sessions when talking about “solutions” (the concrete resulting system).  As one starts to analyze a problem, there are sure to be “unknown unknowns”.  By the time a system has been “completed” everything about the system (at least for a point in time) is defined – and one can make the appropriate measurements and calculations necessary to evaluate the complexity.

It’s a wonderful, wonderful initiation to the paranormal aura that is key to the show. These three episodes didn’t air in order, but the forgettable episode “3” I think can be cast aside. These episodes raised the stakes of the series, getting Scully permanently involved in the conspiracy. Steve Railsback as Duane Barry was great, but out of those three, “One Breath” is the most memorable episode, and I believe on a totally different level than the other two. There is no alien activity or the usual X-Files fare. Instead it is a very personal and human episode, focusing on Scully and her inner struggle. I love this episode so much. It combines the Fox shows, Cops and The X-Files to create an odd mix. We got to see the usual nightly hijinks you’d see on Cops, and a paranormal story. It felt authentically Cops, but there was Mulder, Scully, and a mystery. Chernobyl Episode 5 watch online. Why did you want to make this series about Chernobyl and why did you feel compelled to turn it into a drama? I’m drawn to desperation, darkness, and the human beauty within those kinds of things. What happened once I read the script was that I understood how important this story was to tell on a lot of levels because of the cost of lives. We’re in a climate right now in which there’s actually a war on truth and people are preferring their own opinions to those of experts. I want to play the first line that you hear in your series. Those lines set up that whole series. In doing the series, are you also trying to draw attention to not only issues of truth these days that not everybody agrees on what it is, but also issues like climate change? To some extent, it’s embedded in there. This show undeniably deals with how human actions affect the world around us. The accident in Chernobyl effectively killed a massive part of Ukraine. It’s still uninhabitable and there’s obviously something interesting that we have an acute urgent situation in which we’re killing this planet and we have people who deny that because it goes against their business ideas. So, yes, for sure. Monday, May 6, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. New episodes air on Mondays. The grandmother,Jackie, seems to be the villain in the household. She snoops, she intrudes, and is an overall despicable person. When Alicia came home, and Jackie told her to bring the kids to church, and followed that up by saying that Zach was listening to Muslim music, I just shook my head. She also stole all the incriminating photos, shredding them. The writers have turned her into a completely despicable character which I hope was their intent. The kiss in the end was unexpected, so this is what I think about it. Alicia could have been traumatized even further, and turned to her husband for help who did help her in the end. Daniel, Peter’s attorney, had just told her Peter may stay in prison forever. By kissing Peter, she shows her appreciation for him, and if he never gets out — well I guess she’ll be content to kiss him.|And it’s bloody brilliant. Chernobyl may lack the supernatural element found in other terror-inducing series like Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House and Hulu’s Castle Rock, yet it’s still utterly terrifying – precisely because it really happened. The limited series doesn’t need ghosts or ghouls to frighten you. The truth. Or as close as we’re going to get from what writer, creator, and executive producer Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part 2) has painstakingly researched in order to tell his story. The horror in Chernobyl is expertly captured by director Johan Renck (Breaking Bad), as he takes the viewer on a nightmarish journey filled with death, fear, and confusion. In the series premiere, titled “1:23:45,” Renck keeps the panic intimate – never showing you more than a few characters inside the plant at a time. The explosion takes place late at night, so the facility isn’t fully staffed and most of the supervising heads of department are at their respective homes. And even though you don’t get to know all of the characters very well, every death feels deeply personal. In one particular scene, shortly after the explosion, a group of workers is sent deeper into the facility to ascertain what happened to the core. In a historical account about a nuclear disaster, there are few things scarier than a group of suit-wearing bureaucrats sitting in a room making decisions about other people’s lives. While chaos ensues at the plant, the politicians, along with other high-ranking officials, debate policy and talk about keeping the story under wraps and protecting the strength of the nation from outside ridicule. Chernobyl 6 Episode.
If you noticed, I didn’t included any season 8 episodes, and the season 9 episode is the only of the season. I was hesitant to add anything from the last two seasons because quite frankly, they were terrible. Trust No 1 was unique in that is was Scully-centric, and Gillian Anderson gave a brilliant performance. The other project I’m working on is ranking the seasons of Buffy. They each have standalone stories, so it’s easy to separate them from each other to compare. I know there is lots of contention over the series with all sorts of reactions to seasons 4 through 7, so if you disagree, I understand; just don’t hurl insults. I’ll also be adding the notable episodes for each season. Since I had a teaser for The X-Files, here’s some of my thoughts which will indicate possibly what my list will look like. I do not like season 6. There are very good individual episodes, and a different and interesting initial concept, but the overall story for the season was average — in Buffy context, bad.
